Science blog #2

What science ideas did you learn?
This week in science class we finished learning about living and non-living things. Then we added two more categories instead of just living and non-living, to group some items. Those two categories were, dormant and once living. When we added those catagories it was much easier to group the items. We also learn a little more about what a hypothesis and prediction is and the diffrence.

How did you learn these ideas?
We learned how to group items in the categories, living, non-living, dormant, and once living by getting objects and placing them were they belong. Some of the items were, a marker, an apple, a leaf, a flame, etc. By making the other two groups it was much easier to place all of the objects in the correct spot. We then talked about it in class.

Why is it important to know this idea?
It is important to know the diffrence between living and non-living things because they are two very diffrent categories and if the teacher asked you to list somthing that is non-living and living, you would need to know the diffrence. Also if the object doesnt fit in ether of the categories then you can place them in the other two, dormant or once living, thats why we came up with more groups. Knowing the diffrence between a hypothesis and prediction is also important to know because if you did an experment and it asks if what they wrote is a hypothesis or predicton you would need to know the diffrence.
