What ideas did you learn this week?

This week in science class we started talking about meiosis. We researched their phase, what they look like, what happens in each phase, and the similarities/differences of meiosis and mitosis. By answering these questions, it allowed us to understand meiosis better. The phases are, Diploid (2n), Prophase I, Metaphase I, Anaphase I, Telophase I, Prophase II, Metaphase II, Anaphase II, Telophase II, and Gamete (1n).We also learned what kind of cell we were making, and we found out it was an animal cell.

How did we learn these ideas?

We learned about meiosis from this website. We saw pictures and read about each phase. We drew the pictures in our notebooks and wrote what each phase does. This helped us understand the phases and meiosis.

Why is it important to know these ideas?

It is important to know about mitosis and meiosis because now we get it and when we take quiz and tests we will know what we are talking about. Also when we have class discussions, we can stay involved and be able to be apart of it. This way we can ask questions about things we don't understand that well.

What ideas did you learn this week?

This week in science class, we continued to learn about mitosis. We focused mostly on, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase. We did a couple of worksheet to help us understand it more. We also talked about the cells lifee cycle. A lot of things happen, such as the DNA going in the Interphase, then turns into mitosis.

How did you learn these ideas?

We learned our ideas mostly from homework. The worksheets helped us understand this more about mitosis, because to answer the question we had to do some research. Another thing that helped us a little more were class discussions. This helped because we got to read some articles and watch a video on mitosis.

Why is it important to learn these ideas?

It is important to know what we are learning and really understand mitosis because in the future we will be reviewing this again. Also, understanding respiration is important because this is another thing that we are going to learn about again. so its good to be prepared.

What ideas did you learn this week?

This week in science class we started a new unit. Our new unit is reproduction. When we started we tried to answer questions to see what we knew. The question were, how do organism reproduce?, how do cells reproduce?, and how is sex different than reproduction? We talked about it in class as a group. Another thing we did this week was learn about mitosis. We learned about the four different parts; prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. Then we drew what they looked like in our notebooks. We even got to look at onion root cells and talk more about the four different parts of mitosis.

How did you learn these ideas?

We learned these ideas mostly from class discussions because it was a new unit and we didn't know to much about it. Also, homework was helpful because we were able to learn about mitosis that way. Then we talked about it in class.

Why is it important to learn these ideas?

Its important to know about reproduction because in the future we will be talking about it again and we will know more about it and be more helpful. Also if it comes up on a test or quiz we can explain it clearly on what it is.
